Deja-Vu?

Hmm… seems to me I was just trying to educate you all on the effects of global warming a few days ago. It’s amazing that I hear today on ABC news that another large ice shelf broke apart in the arctic this time.

“The breakup was so powerful, earthquake monitors 250 kilometers away picked up the tremors”

Apparently the ice shelf broke up more than 16 months ago, but is just now being reported on after scientists take time to piece together the information. Approximately 41 square miles of ice shelf 3000 to 4500 years old and 121 ft. thick dropped into the ocean.

It’s time to do something people, and it’s time to do something NOW!

    This issue is so important!

Polar bears need ice chunks in the oceans to faciliate their seal hunting. They have lost one whole month of their hunting season this year due to global warming. Scientists estimate that by 2040 there will no longer be frozen waters in the arctic during the summer. There has also been recent evidence of polar bears interbreeding with grizzlies–a sign of the polar bears moving southward.

I wish everyone could realize that efforts to make change happen begin with individual decisions and choices. Humans have been granted intellect, yet so many of us neglect to put it to good use. As consumers, we have great power–power to help and power to hurt. It is up to each of us to make a conscious decision of how to exert it.

I’m glad you’re conscious of the issue. Every little bit helps!
