COOL BEANS!

Its time I open my mind to the world. Most of you have probably arrived at my site due to an IM or e-mail you received from me. My purpose for creating the website, and the corresponding blog, is quite simple; To keep in touch.

My schedule lately has changed dramatically. Due to the fact that I am now working two jobs in order to pay bills off, spending time with Abby while she’s in town, spending time with Kristie so she doesn’t think I don’t care, exercising at 5 am to lose weight, all the while trying to maintain my sanity, I don’t get a chance to keep in touch with my friends and family near as much as I’d like. I’m sorry all, its not that I don’t love each and every one of you (in one way or another ). The simple fact is; there just aren’t enough hours in the day.

I would hope that you all decide to register (link to left). This will allow you to post your comments, and keep in touch in some little way.

Anyway…… PEACE!

Well….. its time to test my photo gallery out. I’ve finished installing it earlier today, and just finished uploading a slew of pictures. I have to get permission from a few people who are in the St Louis album before I can open it to the world though. It should only take me a day or so to get things in order. I uploaded some older pictures I had floating around on my hard drive documenting the arrival of my 20gig iPod. I figured everyone else was blogging about their experience when their iPods arrived… why can’t I? Besides, it was like Christmas around my house at the time. I’ve since ripped all my CD’s to my external hard drive and amassed roughly 16gigs of music! Enough music that I can listen 24 hours straight for 9 days and NEVER hear the same song!

I’m sitting here at the mall on a detail for the fire station. The problem is, we are sitting in the firetruck, outside, in the sun, and I’m sweating my butt off. Meanwhile, all the activities are taking place inside. My hope is that no one will show up out here. Maybe then someone in a position of authority will realize the insanity behind some of these scheduled appearances. Don’t misunderstand me, I’m all for public education. I think education is a very important factor of our job. However, if we are going to educate our community, lets do it correctly. Let’s setup a table, put on some demonstrations, hand out information, and actually educate people.

This sitting outside simply to have a presence here is for the birds though.

WOOHOO!!!! Kristie was kind enough to let me borrow her nice big 35″ TV since my little 20″ TV just wasn’t cutting it for playing X-Box games on. I just got it setup and its a world of difference. It was extremely heavy thought, and because the stairs at her apartment are about to fall apart, I was worried about falling through to the ground below. Our plans for the evening include racing and snowboarding all night. I’ll need all the help I can get because Abby and Kristie usually smoke my rear.

Ok… so I know its not all that interesting, but in the interest of documenting my attempts to get this site up and running correctly I will now congratulate myself on getting e-mail logging to work.

It’s 3 am, and I can’t sleep yet. I was sick as a dog today for some reason. I think its this diet I’m on. Only one more week, then I can have some carbs. I figured working on the site may make me a bit drowsy, but as usual, solving computer problems has done nothing but energized me. I’ll have to call it a night here in a few minutes though, promised Abby we’d do something fun tomorrow…. er today actually.

I’m still working on getting Mother up and running. Its been a long trying process. Because of my absentmindedness I had to reinstall Gentoo 5 times. What should have taken 2 hour to complete ended up taking over 12 hours. Next time I’ll make sure I have the NEWEST documentation to work from. One simple little kernel configuration error caused so much pain and suffering. Well….. its up now and works great. Its going to take a bit of time for me to tweak everything out due to the fact my daughter is in town and I don’t spend too much time on the computer when she’s around. Slowly but surely its finally coming together the way I want. I’ll post Mother’s specs sometime in the near future.

I’ve also decided to leave the “Hello World” post. I think its fitting.
